The first global study of this type showed that 745 thousand people died in 2016 from strokes and heart disease because of long working hours, reports the BBC.
The report found that people living in Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific region were the most affected.
O The BSH also said the situation could get worse because of the coronary pandemic.
Research found that work at 55 hours or more a week was accompanied by a 35 - percent higher risk of stroke and a 17 - percent higher risk of death from heart disease, compared with a week's work week of 35 to 40 hours.
The study, conducted with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), also showed that almost three-quarters of those who died as a result of long-hour work, were men of middle or older age.
