Haradinaj: For the interest of nation and state, I have always overstepped myself and crossed party borders

After a debate flared up after an old statement by Foreign Minister Donika Grovala appeared on the scene, saying of former KLA leaders that they were criminals, there were many reactions from people of different spheres. But Haradinaj says he sees no way to argue with the children of heroes.

I've always been grateful and humble before the work and sacrifice of natives, political activists, heroes and martyrs of the nation, all historical periods. That's how I've been raised as a child and this education has followed me all my life. I remain firm in this course, no matter what the future may bring. For the interests of the nation and the state, I have always overstepped myself and crossed party boundaries. We have many enemies who, in addition to wanting to alienate our glorious past, prove today to promote internal divisions and create opinions in which prominent historical personalities, both political and military, are demonised. In the case of the Liberation War, we need to be together, not to defend it, because it does not need protection, but to present it as it is: pure and self-aware, where on the one hand were the sons and daughters lined up in the KLA, who protected their families, their ancestors' land, and the right to live free and dignifiedly; and on the other side was the aggressor who came from another country and tried to remove by genocide the Albanian being from his ownpet, he wrote.

He adds that the nation's activists have gone through difficult ways to achieve freedom and adds that the children of these people have often failed to measure up to their ancestors.

“Successors of prominent personalities, who have participated or even led our efforts at liberation, have gone through very difficult life situations. Remaining without parents in very difficult times, when Kosovo was still occupied and when Albania was single due to numerous problems and crises, has been a major challenge, as it has resulted in a lack of state and social care for the children of heroes. So, not because of their failure to make a decision about the country, but because of the challenges of life obstacles, a large number of them have been unable to testify all the time to their parents. I will never allow myself to argue with the descendants of heroes, but I will always follow their way to the land. Until the last breath!”, Haradinaj says.

Ramush Haradinaj's brother, Dauti, had reacted to Donika Gervala's statement, saying he was fighting for Yusuf Gervala's flag and was not a criminal.
