AAK Chairman Ramush Haradinaj recalled on the 22nd anniversary of the event, the May 22nd 1999 massacre in the town of Vushtrri, saying that that on that fateful day the Albanian dog was attempting to break up.
Haradinaj added that the Serbian state even further refuses to accept the truth and respond to crimes committed as we continue our struggle for the truth.
“Another two years ago, dozens were killed and massacred, and many others escaped with wounds that were healed by time. But the wounds of the soul, the memory of those who kidnapped us, live forever.
Hard was our way to freedom. The Serbian state, even further refuses to accept the truth and answer for the crimes committed, and we continue our struggle for the truth. Kosovo does not forget! Glory to the fallen for freedom!”, Haradinaj wrote.
On May 22nd 1999, Serbian military forces carried out genocide over the Albanian population of Vushtrri by killing 68 citizens of this municipality, men, women and children indiscriminately. The bodies of 67 of the 68 killed on the” 22 Mayi” in Vushtrri were found in the mass cemetery in Batajnica in Belgrade and turned to families in Kosovo between 2003-2012. Still no trial has been conducted for the perpetrators of this massacre.
