Israel has pledged to establish calm in the region. By Wednesday at least 43 dead have been confirmed, including 13 children and more than 200 injured.
Israel declared its state of emergency in the central city of Lod amid the hail of missile attacks.
Israel has killed several of Hamas' top commanders in targeted air strikes in the Gaza Strip, while the Jewish state pledged to step up its campaign against the Palestinian militant group.
“We will strike them as if they never dreamed of possible,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement, adding that the Gaza operations were “only the start”.
Blasts also occurred in the capital, Tel Aviv. Prime Minister Netanyah pledged to expand the offensive, and said militants would pay.
“Hamas and Islamic Jihad will pay. I'm telling you, they're gonna pay a heavy price for their fight”
Wars follow several-day riots and violent confrontation between Israeli police and Palestinian protesters near Al Aksa Mosque or Mount Temple, a holy place for both Islamic and Jewish.
