The decision to lift priorities in the German vaccination campaign does not mean that all will be vaccinated immediately in June, Spahn said, pointing to existing logistical problems.
However, Spahn reiterated the government's promise that any citizen who wants to be vaccinated will be able to take the vaccine over the summer.
The minister of Health added that authorities are discussing when and how to allow vaccination of children and young people aged 12 to 16.
The European Bars Agency (EMA) aims to approve Pfizer and BioNTech in June for this age group, and possibly later this month.
