French top diplomat Jean-Yves Le Drian added that there must be a debate about easing restrictions on the patents of pharmaceutical companies that have also been supported by the White House, but that the number one priority is the increase in production.

The French minister acknowledged that more must be done to ensure that vaccines reach the world's poorest people and that the rich states of the G7 Group are responsible for achieving that goal.
