It is about extending approval for the use of their vaccine, and EMA will assess the data presented by Pfizer and BioNTech under accelerated procedure and is expected to make a decision in June, unless additional information is needed, the agency said in a statement, broadcast the AP.
Pfizer and BioNTech confirmed on Friday that they have submitted a request to the European Agency of Bars (EMA) to prolong the use of their vaccine against Coronavirus to children aged 12 to 15 years of age, and at the beginning of this month they submitted a similar request to the US regulatory health authority for their vaccine, which has already been approved for use in people over 16 years of age in both the US and European Union.
Their demand is based on positive results from a clinical study in the late phase that included 2,260 participants aged 12 to 15, the companies said.
