We take these measures, together with our partners and allies, to hold the regime responsible for its actions and to demonstrate our commitment to the aspirations of the people of Belarus”, she said.
The United States is also co-ordinating with the EU and other partners to draft a list of target sanctions against key members of the Belarusn government, which are linked to continued human rights abuses, corruption, the counterfeiting of the 2020 elections and the events of May 23rd, Psaki added.
Belarus diverted the company's flight “Ryanair” on May 23rd, claiming that the plane has a threat to the bomb, while after landing it arrested a dissident journalist. The European Union has reacted sharply to this Belarus action.
