At least nine people have died today, and two children were injured when a cable lift came down connecting the town of Stress, on the shores of Lake Maggior and Mount Motarone, in the Piemte region of northern Italy.
The ANSA agency claims that at the time of the accident, there were 11 passengers in the lift cabin and that injured children were transferred by helicopter to Turin Hospital.
According to the rescue service, the lift was at a high altitude at the time of the fall, the AP reports.
Telefera Strasa Motarone transports tourists and locals from the famous state of stress to the shores of Lake Maggior, on top of Motarone Mountain at an altitude of nearly 1,400 miles per 20 minutes, according to Reuters.
