Thousands of Palestinians returned to their homes amid scenes of destruction, which some officials said the reconstruction could last years.
The World Health Organisation (OBSH) called for the creation of corridors so that injured people can be evacuated.
More than 250 people were killed in the 11-day conflict, the overwhelming majority of them in Gaza. Israel and Hamas also claimed victory.
In southern Israel, residents celebrated the ceasefire, but many expressed concern that another conflict in the region was only a matter of time.
Trucks from various relief agencies, including those related to the United Nations, began bringing medicine, food, and fuel to Gaza.
More than 100,000 people had to leave their homes on territory, which is controlled by the militant group Hamas and nearly 800,000 people had no access to water, the United Nations Children's Agency said, U n NICEF.
