About 13.7 million ballots have been printed for the upcoming local elections.
Local executive leaders are elected by majority of votes, and if they want to be elected in the first round, they must get more than 50 per cent of the votes cast. If none of the candidates succeed, within two weeks, on May 30th, the second round of elections will be held, in which two candidates with the largest number of votes will enter, while the candidate winning the number in the second round announced the winner.
In Split and Rijeka, 11 candidates for mayor compete, while in Zagreb ten candidates.
The lists for district assemblies are registered 7,104 candidates, including the City of Zagreb, which has district status, and 28.860 on lists for city and municipal councils. There are 225 candidates for the mayors and their deputys, meanwhile, that number also includes candidates for Zagreb mayor and his deputy. 1,901 people have been running for mayors and mayors.
In the cities of Split and Rijeka, 11 candidates compete for mayoralty, in Osijek there are seven, and in Zagreb, ten candidates.
Election silence began at midnight Friday and ends today at 19 p.m. when voting stations are closed.
Today, 6,572 polling stations will be opened in Croatia and ten members of the commission will be in each poll.
The results will be released by the State Election Commission tonight by 21st, while the situation will be updated every 15 minutes. The turnout data will be released at 12 and 17. / KP/
