COVAX warns that vaccine supplies will be lacking

The COVAX programme said that the outbreak of the virus in India will have a major impact on the vaccine supplies of this programme for the second quarter of this year, “by the point where, by the end of June, we will face a lack of 190 million doses” of vaccines. “Even though COVAX will [...]
“Even though COVAX will have large quantities of vaccines available later this year, through agreements that have already been signed with several production companies, if we don't address this issue now, lack of supplies may have catastrophic consequences”, the COVAX said on May 27th through a press release.
Coalition for Epidemiic Preparation Innovations (CEPI), Alliance for Vacina (GAVI), and World Health Organisation (OBSH) as co-chairman of the international programme COVAX, aims to distribute vaccines in poor countries.
The COVAX programme called on the world leadership to act to overcome this challenge.
If world leaders get together, the initial objectives of COVAX, to share two billion doses of vaccines worldwide during 2021 and 1.8 billion doses for 92 low-income countries by the beginning of 2022, it can still be achieved”, COVAX said.
But to achieve this goal, COVAX said it must governments and private sector <x0) urgently unlock new sources of vaccines, with remittances starting in June and financing us so that we can distribute vaccines.
“COVAX has available infrastructure to facilitate and co-ordinate this complex global effort”, the statement said.
Since February, over 70 million doses of vaccines in 126 countries have been distributed, and over 35 countries have received the first doses of vaccine because of the program.
Kosovo has also seized free vaccines from this programme. On Thursday, through this programme, the last container of Pfizer vaccine reached Kosovo.
