Seismologists in the Democratic Republic of Congo have reported 61 earthquakes within a 24-hour period Saturday about the volcano near Nyrango Mountain, which erupted last week until it was said that residents would flee the danger of washing.
Details were described in a daily report prepared for Government by the Women's Volcanic Observatory (GVO), writes CNN, broadcasts the Kosovo Clan.
The report explained that the crater of the volcano “continues to collapse, which contributed to the earthquake and caused visible ash emissions from Goma”.
The 11,500 - foot - high [11,500 m] volcano is located about 15 miles [15 km] from Goma with a population of about one million.
A spokesman for the provincial government said Friday that around 400,000 people have left the city; while officials warned of a second blast.
The first blast last Saturday killed at least 31 people.
Since then, the area has experienced a series of earthquakes and quakes, some have felt far away from Rwanda's capital, Kigali, more than 60 miles [100 km] from the volcano in Virunga National Park.
If the magma continues moving through a breach toward Lake Kivu, there is a possibility of a lisnic explosion, where this explosion can cause waste flight and toxic gas.
Gas emissions will likely become more frequent in the coming months because of increased volume of underground magma.
