“Today I will welcome the six leaders of the Western Balkans. This is the tradition of discussing the region with” region, Borrell said.

This is a formal meeting where we can formally discuss strategic and challenging topics for Europe and the Balkan region”, Borrell has said.

“We consider that Western Balkan countries are one of the highest priorities of the European Union”, Borrell added.

The number one EU diplomacy added that the meeting gives us the opportunity to talk more about the situation in the Western Balkans.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Albania's Edi Rama, Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, Serbia's Prime Minister Ana Brnabiq, Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic and Bosnia and Herzegovina tripartite presidency leader Milorad Dodik will also attend the meeting.

Borell estimated that the Western Balkans is a region of key importance for the EU itself.
