US President Joe Biden's administration will request US Congress $75m for development and economic assistance for Palestinians, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Tuesday.
He has also said Washington will push ahead with the process of reopening the US consulate for Palestinians in Jerusalem.
Former American President Donald Trump closed it in 2019.
The United States will work to reopen our consulate in Jerusalem. This is the important way to co-operate and provide support to the Palestinian people”, Blinken from Ramallah said after meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
Blinken has also said that the United States will provide $5.5m in aid to Gaza, as well as $32m for the United Nations Relief and Labour Agency (UNRWA).
Earlier in the day, Blinken said the US would make sure the militant group Hamas, who controls Gaza, does not benefit from assistance.
Blinken has also re-excited US support for Israel's right to defend itself.
More than 250 people have been killed, most of them in Gaza, in the 11-day fighting, that ended Friday through a ceasefire mediated by Egypt.
Violence has erupted after several weeks of Israeli-Palestinian tensions in eastern Jerusalem, then climaxing in clashes in a holy area for both Muslims and Jews.
