WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebraesus said at a virtual meeting in Geneva that he understands the fact that some countries want to vaccinate children and teenagers, but he has suggested that this be done, but those vaccines will be donated to poor countries.
COVAX is a global scheme of vaccine distribution in poor countries. So far, about 60 million doses have been distributed through this programme, but the process has faced difficulties in part due to Indian export restrictions from AstraZeneca vaccine due to the epidemic situation in this country.
O BSH hopes more countries will follow the example of France and Sweden in donating vaccines for COVAX after the immunization of their priority population.
Canada and the United States are among the countries that have teenage vaccines authorized.
So far, about 1.26 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been injected worldwide, but most have gone to people in wealthy countries.
