This centre recalls that today it has been 22 years since prominent intellectual Ukshin Hoti was unjustly held by the Serbian state.

On May 16, 1999, Uksin Hoti's sentence expires and he is released out of prison, although it was a Sunday, which was not common for then prisons. He was accompanied by two prison guards towards the exit, and from then on, nothing is known of his fate. The responsibility for his disappearance falls on the Serbian state, which was implementing the genocide plan against Albanians those days. Three days later many other prisoners would find death. Following the prison bombing by military aviation, Serbian forces shot the prisoners and made one of the worst massacres in Kosovo, killing over a hundred Albanian prisoners and wounded hundreds more. Not to this day, no member of the Serbian forces has been held responsible for the disappearance of Ukshin Hoti, though known by names and surnames of all those who have served in the Dubrava prison”, said a communiqué.

Kosovo's “Genocide Centre requests that the Kosovo Prosecutorship conduct detailed investigations to illuminate the fate of Ukshi Hot and those responsible for his disappearance be brought to justice.
