The Ministry of Health, through an announcement Sunday, has suggested that the total number of vaccines against COVID-19 in Kosovo has reached 41,867.
“Inoculation teams in October “1 October” in Pristina and in other vaccination units in Kosovo today have vaccinated 2519 citizens. With vaccinated today, the total number of vaccines against COVID-19 in Kosovo has reached 41 867”, it was said at the MSHA report.
However, the current percentage of citizen vaccination does not appear to be approaching the country's prime minister, Albin Kurti, made during the election campaign. Kurti, along with the opening of the governing programme, in the political health programme, had said that if the VV came to power, it would vaccinate 60 percent of citizens within the year.
Although the state has only about 38,000 vaccines available, the Health Ministry has invited them to vaccinate the 65 to 79 age groups. In the state registry, statistics say Kosovo has over 130 thousand citizens of this category.
In addition to the elderly, with these doses of vaccines, according to the State Vaccination Plan against Coddy-19, there has also been an introduction to the inoculation of health personnel, chronically ill persons, educators and security forces directly involved in the management of the virus.
Unlike the low percentage of vaccinated in Kosovo, neighbouring Albania stands much better in this regard. Albania, so far from 2.8 million people, has managed to vaccinate over 600 thousand of them.
Program U n NICEF in Kosovo has indicated that Kosovo by the end of May will be supplied with 100 thousand and 620 doses of anti vaccine CO VID of the COVAX program.
