The ombudsman is considering the possibility that the issue of 11 million electricity for the north will be sent to the Constitutional Court.
The Kosovo Assembly's decision to allocate 11m euros for the payment of electricity in the north Thursday somehow again violates the rights of citizens in general, because ultimately here the means to share spending are of Kosovo budgets and taxpayers”, has declared People's Lawyer Naim Qeyaj, for Albanian Post.
However, he stressed that in the coming days, they will analyse this case and come up with an official statement.
We will analyse this case in the following days and if we consider it necessary, we will come out with an official” statement, Qelaj said.
On Thursday, with 61 votes for, no counter and no abstention, Kosovo's Assembly has approved the recommendations of the Parliamentary Commission for Economy, Intervention Industry, and Trade, to accommodate the financial means and responsibilities -- that the System, Transmission and Market Operator COSTT will pay off electricity bills for Serbs living in Kosovo's four northern municipalities.
Residents of four municipalities in northern Kosovo, Leposaviq, Northern Mitrovica, Zubin Potok and Zvecan since 1999, have not paid their spent electricity bills after the end of the war.
