Over 100 cases of COVID-19 reported on Mount Everest

At least 100 climbers and support staff members have been infected with coronarys on Mount Everest, said a guide, despite Nepal officials denying that cases of COVID-19 were recorded on the highest mountain on Earth. Lucas Furtenbach of Austria said 22 May that one of his six guidas [...]

Lucas Furtenbach from Austria said 22 May that one of his six foreign guideries and six Nepalese guidas have proved positive with coronarys.

For all confirmed cases that we are aware of were confirmed by pilots, doctors and expedition leaders have positive tests and we can confirm these cases”, Furtenbach told the AP agency.

“are at least 100 positive people with COVID-19, who are at the base camp (of Mount Everest), and the real number could be 150 or 200”, he said.

Nepalan officials have denied that there is an active case of coronarys among mountaineers and support staff in all Everest camps, located in Nepal. Last year, Mount Everest closed to climbers because of the portrayal of coronary cases.

Last April, a climber from Norway became the first person to come up with a positive Coronavirus in Everest. He was then taken by helicopter to Kathmandu for medical treatment.

So far, Nepal has recorded over 497 thousand cases and over 60,000 casualties from the Coronobrus. This country has 28 million inhabitants.
