Washington woke up shocked after another deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol, an incident that left a police official dead and a suspect returning memories of the January 6th events, when Trump supporters broke into the building in an attempt to overthrow the elections.
Friday's incident was a much smaller one, but caused confusion and fear, writes The Guardian, translates Periscope.
Earlier in the afternoon, one ran against two policemen standing in front of the barricade. After leaving the car, the suspect then stabbed them but was then shot to death.
Yogananda Pittman, acting chief of the Capitol Police, told reporters that both police officials had been taken to hospital after the attack.
The name of the dead policeman was William Evans, an 18 - year veteran and father of two young children.
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, called Evans “martir of democracy”. /Periscope
