The woman-elect is Nora al-Matrooshi, who has been graduating from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, currently works for the National Oil Company at Abu Dhabi.
It will join the NASA Academy of Astronaut Candidates in the United States in 2021.
The United Emirates are working more recently to develop science and technology and are trying to reduce their investment in oil, Reuters writes.
