Turkey acknowledges that many Armenians living in territories of the Ottoman Empire have been killed in clashes with Ottoman forces during World War I, but counters the death figure and denies that the killings have been continuously orchestrated and that they constitute genocide.
The commemoration of these murders is recorded in various parts of the world for every 24 April, Reuters writes, broadcast Gazeta Express.
For decades, measures for recognising Armenian genocide have stalled in the United States Congress, while the American presidents have been reluctant to call genocide killings, hampered by concerns about reports with Turkey and Ankara's intensive lobby.
Asked in an interview with a Turkish media medium about whether Joe Biden will recognise the Armenian genocide after reporting that he will be the first US president to do so, the Turkish top diplomat said: “The United States must respect international law. ”

In 2019 the United States Senate adopted a non-binding resolution that identified the killing of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire as genocide. The move had angered Turkey.
