Tom Doshi, president of the PSD and deputy candidate in Sunday's elections in Albania, has resigned as an MP, but also as a candidate in the 25 April elections.
Doshi has submitted the request to the CEC, where he asks this institution to replace it under the law, while resignation is irrevocable.
I sign Tom Doshi, with my free and full will, I declare that on April 26th, I resign irrevocable from my mandate as Albanian Parliament deputy. I declare that today on April 26th, I also resign from my mandate as deputy won after the April 25th 2021 elections and resign from the multiethnic list of PSD MPs for Albania's 25 April election. I ask the CEC to make my replacement as deputy according to the election code projections. The higher it is in line with my free and full will and I don't have today on April 26th and no claim to the CEC decision, under which my mandate passes to the other candidate according to election code projections. This resignation is irrevocable”, writes Doshi.
Although resignation is inevitable, he has not clarified its reasons.
Ambassador Yuri Kim has several times mentioned Dosh's name, a person who has been barred from entering the United States since 2018 because “is involved in high-level corruption”. This did not prevent Doshi from being included in Social Democrat Party MP lists, from which he has already resigned.
