Tear gas drop trial is expected today

After five consecutive failures, at the Constitutional Court in Pristina, court hearings for the case of tear gas drop in Kosovo's Assembly spaces are now being accused of -- Justice Minister Albulen Hadziu, MP Pal Lekaj and deputy Donika Cadaj-Bujupi and Besa Battiu. Initially, the judge of this case was the judge [...]

Initially, the judge of this case has been Judge Naim Krasniqi Yashanica, but after passing it from the Randa Crime Department to the General Department, this case will be tried by Judge Fatime Dermaku, the Justice Vow reports.

Otherwise, before this case passed to Judge Dermaku, the initial sessions were held on July 10th and July 30th, as well as the September 2nd and September 15, 2020, had failed.

In contrast, the session scheduled for March 16 of this year has been postponed in the absence of Lekaj accused.

According to the indictment filed on April 8, 2016, Lekaj, Baftiu, Cadaj-Bujupi and Haxhiu are charged with without authorization having possessed tear gas canisters.

The indictment says that on February 19, 2016, around 12:20, in the Kosovo Parliament hall, after a pause in the Parliament's work until the accused were returning to the hall during the check by the Parliament's security workers, the accused had been found and seized by a tear gas balloon, which they kept without authorization.

For these actions, the four indictees are suspected to have each separately committed criminal work “ownership, control or unauthorized possession of weapons” by Article 374, paragraph 1 of KPRK.
