Basel City adviser Jenny Schweiser passed a motion Wednesday to give presents to young people in gratitude for their efforts during the pandemic and the patience they had and are continuing to have.

The motion requires that all people between the ages of 12 and 20 in the canton receive a <x0) thank-you wishback”, within which there will be different solid things, such as coupons that can buy clothes with large release, cinema tickets, concerts, sports events, and also consider their demands on what they want.

“Now is the time to thank young people in our canton with a special gesture”, Schweiser told Swiss national broadcaster SRF.

They have shown consideration for the most vulnerable people in society”, Schweiser said.

Almost all political groups in the canton support the proposal, Swiss media reports.

“I highly support it (as a way) to say thank you for the restrictions that have been set for more than a year”, said adviser Michela Seggiani.
