The workers' security and health are continuing to be unhappy in Kosovo. This is being estimated to have been highlighted even in the pandemic, where many workers have lost their lives as a result of their failure to provide anti - mass security CO VID-19 from employers and institutions.
On World Day of Security and Work Health, at the <x0 Foundation Table “Fridrich Ebert Stiftung”, was criticised as not co-ordinating inter-institutional for implementing the Law for Security and Health at work.
The organiser of this table, Besa Luza, said that the attention of institutions should be greater in the safety and health of workers.
“Pandemia COVID-19 has influenced that health workers, workers in various organizations have lost (life), due to the lack of adequate anti measures. c O VID or have not respected the various restrictions that have been made. Despite the measures, health workers, many workers from police, educators, and other institutions have lost their lives. So today we remember all those who are not with us because their jobs have not been safe because employers and institutions have not done their job well. They have simply influenced these lives to be no more... We have achieved that the Law for Labour Security and Work Health is adopted in the Parliament, but during the implementation process has been noted for the sufficient obstacle to job inspectors, practical legislation shortcomings. It has been seen that it has not been possible to implement measures or penalties against sectors, businesses or institutions that have not respected the rules and workers to undergo”, she said.
Improved employee status is not seeing Avni Hajdini from BSPK.
There is no improvement until with 40 inspectors we try to inspect over 80 thousand businesses. These guys too are in big trouble, how can so many businesses be inspected with so few inspectors. For that reason, we say it is not satisfying work with security and health at work”, he said.
Despite the small number of inspectors, Agim Millaku from the Labour Inspectorate said there is a lack of co-operation with union representatives for the implementation of inspections.
We have problems. We go to inspections, but there is a need to cooperate and convey union representatives during inspection. They have no such organization in certain subjects. Their representative is absent, the worker as a single person does not take the courage to present violations of the legal provisions of the employer at their expense, as he feels at risk in the absence of union organization for someone to speak on his behalf. He thus remains vulnerable”, he said.
The World Day for Work Security and Health is an integral part of the ILO-led Global Strategy on Safety and Health, which promotes the creation of global prevention and a health culture of all actors.
