On Tuesday, Christop Berger, chairman of the Federal Commission for Vaccination Issues (Ekif), has informed the media of a change in quarantine regulations.
Next, we're giving the most important answers to this regulation, either the changes made, based on Berger's statement.
So far, vaccinated persons have had to enter quarantine for ten days after contact with a person who has resulted positive.
The new regulation says: “Based on scientific data, Ekif and BAG come to the conclusion that those who have fully performed the vaccine (have received two doses) are not quarantined for six months after contact with an infected person broadcast albinfo.ch. This exemption from quarantine is worth 14 days after the second vaccine.
When do changes apply?
According to Berger, Ekif and BAG “relevant documents will be completed in the coming days and then they can be implemented in canton”.
Why exactly six months
According to Berger, the protective effect of the vaccine has so far been tested as safe for at least six months after two doses taken.
What happens next?
After the end of six months, according to the current state of knowledge, the protection effect of the vaccine is not undoubtedly witnessed, and after contact with an infected person, vaccinated persons should still be kept in quarantine.
“Regular assessment of the data for the protection of vaccinated persons will indicate whether the 6-month extension of exemption from quarantine can be increased,” says Berger.
If I'm vaccinated, should I enter quarantine in case I come back from a dangerous place?
Yeah. Because the exception applies exclusively to contact with an infected person. The regulation, therefore, is only relevant to the situation in Switzerland, while the procedures for quarantine concerning travel, for returns to Switzerland from abroad have not yet been regulated, ” says Berger, conveys albinfo.ch.ch. The exemption from quarantine simply does not apply to cases of return from vacation to a dangerous place.
