The royal family last farewell two days ago to Prince Philip, who passed away at the age of 99. Queen Elizabeth, along with her son, Prince Charles, grandchildren, William, and Harry, was present at his funeral. During the ceremony, the queen appeared quite moved, having spent over 70 years of her life married to Prince Philip.
To say final goodbye to her husband, Queen Elizabeth left a note on the deceased's coffin. The note was picked up by several photographers, and it identified it as written “I love” and “Liebet”.
On April 21st, the Queen will celebrate the 94th anniversary of her birth, and Harry has postponed his return home to stay with Grandma even on her birthday.
After the death of Prince Philip, however, the Queen has decided not to celebrate her birthday at all.
This will be her first birthday without her husband around, after 73 years together.
Prince Philip himself planned for 18 years every detail of his burial, as he demanded that “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” (“For those in Peril on the Sea” by William Whiting. This song had great meaning for the Prince, being inspired by dangerous marine life. We remember that Prince Philip served in the Royal Navy for 14 years, so this was an appropriate song for his last escort to the apartment.
“The Judge” played as a song of joy and included a reference for entering God's “ports with thanks”.
Also played at his funeral ceremony was “Action Stations”, which is known as the Royal Navy alert.
