US President Joe Biden has returned the letter to President Vjosa Osmani about helping secure vaccines against Coved-19. But it seems that the answer is not as optimistic as it might have expected. Periscop translated the letter that Biden sent to Mrs. Osmani and although her last paragraph mentions how his team will be in contact with the president on the issue, it mentions the COVAX programme, which Kosovo has already received only 24 thousand doses.
The United States has offered an initial $4 billion contribution to GAVI to support the COVAX programme to support safe and effective vaccines for countries in need, and I was pleased to see that Kosovo had started to take those vaccines from COVAX.” wrote Mr. Biden, translate Periscope.
In the letter, it seems that Biden is observing only for face and face the request of President Osmani. We remember that Kurti II Government is facing fierce criticism for continuing failures to provide anti-mocation CO VID and pandemic management.
Beden has mentioned dialogue with Kosovo in his letter and Kosovo's need to compromise “difficult and flexible” before appearing in vaccines, where it does not say something big.
He has said he expects a “overall normalisation” agreement, which he believes will be key to Kosovo.
Full letter translated:
Dear President Osmani:
On behalf of the American people, please accept the warmest wishes for your election as president of Kosovo.
Our countries have a long partnership, and rooted in common values. And, as you know, the Biden family has a personal connection to your country. My son, Bo [Beau], loved the time he spent in Kosovo working for the advancement of peace and rule of law, and I will always appreciate the memory of when he brought my entire family to 2016 to participate in the dedication of the name given to a highway in his honor.
I look forward to working with you on the priorities we share for Kosovo, including strengthening the rule and the law; fighting corruption; protecting the rights of ethnic and religious minorities; rebuilding by COVID-19 pandemic; promoting economic development; and ensuring a stable energy future.
Significantly, the United States will continue to support efforts to ensure a lasting peace through productive dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and [will support] a comprehensive normalisation agreement, which we believe should be centered on mutual recognition. The normalisation of relations with Serbia is key for Kosovo to realise its potential and integrate into Euro-Atlantic institutions. I know that achieving that goal will require difficult and flexible compromises along the way, and the United States will be your partner at every step.
Thank you for your March 19th letter to Kosovo's need for COVID-19 vaccines. My administration has prioritized working with Bible partners and multilaterella to mobilise an answer to the pandemic. The United States has offered an initial $4 billion contribution to GAVI to support the COVAX programme to support safe and effective vaccines for countries in need, and I was pleased to see Kosovo started taking those vaccines from COVAX. As we increase the vaccine supply here in the United States, we are exploring options to work with partners to share what we can. My team will remain in touch with you as these efforts develop.
Please accept the best wishes from me until you take office,
Honestly,
Joe Biden
