Days ago it was reported that the South Mitrovica municipality has divided a site for Kosovo's military to build a military base at the site called “The Crrrrnousk Centre”.
The country in question is considered a strategic point, since the entire Mitrovica is clearly seen.
But it is the Serbs who have considered such a move to be provocation.
The same has not even halted statements since the release of this information.
Serbian media have recently reported that NATO has recently announced that the decision to build the Kosovo Security Force base (FSK) in southern Mitrovica was made by Kosovo authorities and that prior to any KSF engagement, permission is required by KFOR commander.
The decision to build the base was made by Kosovo authorities. So you should contact them for a comment. Before any engagement in northern Kosovo, The KSF needs the KFOR commander's permission in line with the agreement reached with Kosovo institutions, which NATO expects to continue with its implementation”, was told in NATO's response, the news writes.net.
The plan was stressed that they support the KSF in its initial mandate and through the advisory team.
“So far the KSF within its original mandate has shown that it is able to conduct operations concerning crisis response and civil protection and help civil authorities respond to natural disasters and other emergencies, for the benefit of Kosovo citizens”, NATO official for Kossev was told in response.
The same one added that KFOR and KSF are co-operating and are carrying out joint activities to remove explosive devices.
Asked whether anything has changed in NATO's stance on the KSF, the same said they should continue to review the level of their commitment.
It also added that they remain committed to Kosovo's security and regional stability and that they continue to carry out their UN-appointed mission, with the goal of ensuring a safe environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo.
As they stressed, they continue to support dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade as the only permanent political solution for Kosovo and the region.
“Call on Pristina and Belgrade to make sure there are no tensions and to refrain from statements or actions that could lead to escalation and stay focused on reform progress and dialogue”.
Regarding this issue was recently declared Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, who said stability and peace will be maintained in Kosovo, but whether there is serious danger or a threat to the Serbian people “Serbs from Kosovo know everything”.
While South Mitrovica Chairman Agim Bahtiri called on Vuciq to withdraw his statement and work for the recognition of Kosovo, because only in this way can he serve his country and the entire region.
