The municipalities with some requests for Kurti Government

In an interview for Online Economy, Ibrahimi said they have requested that another grant be added to municipalities.

“It is a year-old report being made for Kosovo municipalities, we like the Association of Communists always demand that the budget on municipalities increase, for now it is about 25.7% of the financial means they send to local level”.

“We demand that this percentage increase because the citizen's life develops at the local level, we have also demanded that in addition to the three main grants which are with the Law on Local Finance before, a grant will be added which will be exclusive for municipalities, where it is supposed that the tools that are financed through the ministries of the line in capital and municipal projects, where municipalities are competent and responsible to create a grant to municipalities and those tools go into those grants and then draft criteria for how those instruments are to be divided, said Ibrahimi.

On the other hand, he says municipalities have asked the government to find a balance between public and economic health before taking measures for the epidemiological situation.

“We as Association have asked to start with the release of measures since the Hoti government, so gastronomy can start work because it is considered by municipalities that a very high percentage of employees are new and their commitments have been in the field of gastronomy and on the other side is considered to be one of the main pillars of economic development”.

All the worries of different sectors and interest groups are first addressed to the local level, to the mayors because the municipality is viewed as the first door to solving the problem. In this case we consider that there have been obstacles to consultation with local level”, he stressed.
