Ismaili Bridge, former minister of health from PDK ranks, has reacted sharply SSH concerning statements from the latter that Kosovo will face a lack of drugs in public health institutions.
He has said that in the absence of drugs, citizens will have to buy drugs from their family budget.
Looking at the high cost of citizens, during the leadership of the Ministry of Health, we constantly raised the budget for the purchase of drugs. In 2017, I found this budget of 25 million euros. After much consultations, we arrived in 2019 to raise the budget for drugs to over 40 million euros. And today, under pandemic conditions, by the time this budget would have to continue growing, it has dropped to about 21 million Euro”, Ismaili wrote.
He has criticised institutions for reducing the budget for medicines for 2021, saying he has undermined his efforts as minister for the stable supply of public health institutions with drugs.

Today's health ministry warning that Kosovo will face a lack of medicines in public health institutions is very bad news for citizens' health and family economy. In the absence of drugs, citizens will have to buy drugs from their family budget, which is also heavily burdened by pandemic.

The drastic reduction in the drug budget for 2021 undermines the efforts we had made to supply stable public health institutions with drugs. I'm very sorry that the budgetary projects that started in 2018 and that produced results were cut short in the biggest health crisis. Good management practices in health must continue beyond government mandates. Today I expect the government to offer solutions, not reasoning.
