Moderna aims at producing three billion vaccine doses in 2022

The company said production would double in its facilities in Switzerland and Spain, while it will grow by 50 percent in U.S. factories.

Moderna also increased forecasts for supply this year to a billion doses.

The announcement comes after the spread of coronary variants in countries like India has raised concerns about the world's capacities to overcome pandemic.

The Modern vaccine has been authorized for use among adults in the United States, the European Union and many other countries.

The vaccine is said to be 94.1 percent effective.

Last year, Modernna has started testing her vaccine even on children 12 to 17, but the results of this test have not yet been published.

In March, meanwhile, testing has begun in children between six and 11 years of age.

The changes in doses are also in the study to better adapt them to coronary mutations.
