Soder, Bravaria's state prime minister and CSU's party's Idyer, CSU, admitted defeat at a news conference Tuesday, saying he had already congratulated his rival.

Laschet has been the party's leader since January, and won 77.5 per cent of the party's vote, reports The Guardian, Periscopi.
However, the internal gathering told of strong divisions about Laschet's candidacy within the CDU board, support for the leader who was less unanimous than it was a week ago.
Peter Altmeier, Minister of Economy and Merkel's close ally, later supported Soder by changing the alliance for Laschet. /Periscope
