Because of the five EU nations that do not recognise Kosovo's independence, the main EU institutions and the European Union itself take a neutral stance over Kosovo's status as a state.
But at the meeting that Prime Minister Kurti held in the European Parliament, this institution has displayed the Kosovo flag in the background.
It has not been the same with the meetings Kosovo chief executive had with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borelli.
