Kosovo Prime Minister Abin Kurti is expected to make his first visit to Brussels from April 28th to 30th next week, since taking the lead in the executive.
So they have confirmed the European Union's sources in Brussels, saying they are making final preparations for the agenda of meetings Kurti will have with the European bloc's top representatives.
According to the same sources, Kurti is expected to have a meeting with European Council President Charles Michel, European Commission President Ursula von Der Leyn, High Representative Josep Borrell, as well as Commissioner for Neighborship and Enlargement Oliver Verhely.
Dialogue with Serbia, confronting the pandemic in Kosovo and the assistance the EU offers in this direction, as well as the reform process, are expected to be the main topics of these meetings.
The same week, but not at the same time, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, is expected to remain in Brussels. This has also caused speculation to appear in the media that Kurti-Vucciq will have a meeting. But, in the EU, they say that “are not aware of such an option”.
Vuciq is expected to hold meetings in Brussels on April 26th and 27th, meanwhile, Kurti the following day.
Both will have meetings with top European Union institutions officials.
However, talks with Prime Minister Kurti and those with President Vuciq are expected to be used to prepare the ground for their meeting to mark the continuation of the dialogue at the top level. Such meetings have not been held since September, when then Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, had met in Brussels.
According to diplomatic adoptions in Brussels, the EU would like the first Kurti-Wucciq meeting to be realised as soon as possible, but such a meeting is expected to take place sometime in May.
