Kurti reasons new measures, mentions high percentages of infected people with the British version

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has shown how the decision is made to step up measures against the distribution of Covid-19. Kurt has mentioned the wide distribution of the British version of Ovid 19 as the reason for making the decision.

“The trend of increasing the number of infected with COVID-19 has become frightening. Based on analysis of the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 from the National Institute of Public Health in Kosovo ( IKKPK has reported 11,577 positive cases, 150 fatal cases, while the fatality rate of the case (CFR) is 1.29%. In the spring of 2020, dozens of citizens were tested until one proved positive, whereas now more often than any fifth are becoming positive with the COVID-19 virus. IKSPK tested with Real Time PCR 147 positive SARS samples CoV-2 for detecting new variants, such as the British, B.1.1.7, which is not only more spreading but also more deadly than previous versions of the Corona virus. These samples had been accepted by all regions of Kosovo and which had resulted in positive results in SARS-CoV-2 over the past few days. Of the total number of tested samples, 97.27% of them were in the British version. Therefore, this situation where this dangerous option is most widespread requires that more exposure to COVID-19 be minimized more urgently, so that the capabilities of the hospital service are affordable and manageable”, he said.

In such an alarming situation, we are forced to act. Public health emergency, forces us to restrict freedom of movement, freedom of assembly, privacy and freedom of service and business management. Such restrictions are based on Law No. 07/ L-006 for the Prevention and Combating Pandemia COVID-19, and as health experts have ascertained from IKKPK and WTO, they are strictly needed when the epidemiological situation is heavy. After a two-week analysis and study, the Ministry of Health has today brought proposals for the general and specific measures for controlling, preventing, and combating the COVID-19 pandemic, which we approved at government meetings. At over 40 points, specifically, the measures have been explained in the coming days, the Health Ministry will explain and describe them further in detail”, he added.

Kurt has shown three goals that are of importance to making the decision.

The measure's malpractice has been made with three objectives: minimising exposure to COVID-19 and slowing its spread so that public health capacities do not flood beyond their limits; maintaining the mental and physical health of citizens; and, as long as possible, maintaining open economic activity”, he has said.
