Every day is the day of the earth!
On April 22, 1970, thousands of environmentalists invaded the streets of the United States. Air and water pollution, the use of pesticides, deforestation, and damage to ecosystems were among the main concerns that concerned every 10th American. With masks on their faces, they expressed indignation and demanded emergency measures to address first the high level of air and water pollution. They sounded the alarm, which over the years echoed even in many countries of the world, that mankind was walking right into self - destruction. But despite increasing social awareness, public pressure, and scientific advancements, these issues were becoming even more challenging year after year.
Today, 51 years later, Earth's Day finds the world in an even more shocking state. The environmental crisis and Pandemia Covid-19 have put us before a big question. Returning to what we once considered normal is no longer an option. Keeping masks since then was a protest symbol for us today has become necessary in order to preserve ourselves and others. Pandemia has manifested the fragility of our world. It has troubled our economic and social actions. It has brought to our attention that despite differences and interests, we have no alternative but to get together, protect and help each other and seriously deal with the environmental crisis.
This day Kosovo finds it in a more serious situation compared to last year, but politically much more stable to deal with crises.
Earth's day for us will not be the only day when we speak and act for the earth. The decisions and actions we take today and the following are important to us. Our urgent actions will be the ban on harmful and illegal practices. Protection of mountains that have been destroyed by illegal and unplanned wood cuts and stone exhumation, the ban on river degradation, and their restoration, the establishment of control over stonebreakers, and the ban on concrete agricultural land are on our list of priorities.
Let's rebuild the Earth, guard our home!
