Kosovo saw the Centre for D burning Treatment, ten people have been sent so far for treatment in Turkey

Lack of health services is considered violating basic human rights for access to health. The state so far has held financial support priorities for treatment abroad, rather than direct investment in the system. Many Kosovo citizens are forced to go abroad for treatment of any diseases. Ten persons [...]

Of the heads of state it is said that the health system cannot function with “arnime”. While these are the very ones who are being criticized for this situation.

The explosion of the gas tank on January 5th in Ferizaj had killed a girl who failed to survive the wound. The 20-year-old was among four people who had gone to Turkey for treatment. Other cases, with fewer injuries, were being handled at the Plastic Surgery Clinic.

It was President Vjosa Osmani himself who had said that the health system could not survive with improvised.

“cannot survive with improvised and armament... It was reported that the estimated number of burns that are treated here at KKUK is over 100 a year that is an extremely large number. There must be a burning center just as they have hospitals in the region and Europe. Set as priority for any future planning made for investment in the health sector”, she said.

Among the many criticisms for the health system, those who are protecting patients' rights say investment in the Djegie Treatment Centre offers greater citizens' security. Association of Patients Chairman Besim Kodra tells Kosovo that such a thing would save the state budget.

I think that hospital service and the Health Ministry should create opportunities for such a burning centre to be done in line with citizens' health needs, since it guarantees greater security for citizens' health. And it saves their budget and the state budget”, he says.

Through the Health Insurance Fund so far, ten people have been sent to Turkey for treatment, when the same ones have experienced severe burns.

“Based on data owned by the Public Health Institutions Medical Treatment Office ( TMJIShaP, up until now, has been supported by 10 patients with severe burns, which have been covered 100% by the Kosovo-Turkey Interministerial Agreement to treat 100 free patients within a calendar year in the state of Turkey”, it says in that response.

Meanwhile, on this issue, editorials have remained unanswered by the University Clinical Hospital Service and the Ministry of Health.

A center for burns has its cost because many lives can be saved. Therefore, it is very important that the State take on the interest of citizens and take such action. Initially to preserve the lives of citizens, to preserve the budget of family”, he adds.

Erblin Hoxha from the FOL Movement considers that health services shortages are violation of basic human rights for access to health. According to him, it is not rare when citizens themselves seek assistance to create funds for treatment abroad.

“The burns are not an extreme case, from which we would never happen in Kosovo to say that we do not need professionals or detailed orientation in dermatology on this issue. The lack of investments in infrastructure as well as the share of analysis, various labs, and a direct investment in management of slightly more serious diseases, and a specific fund has been provided just for these cases to be sent abroad, indicates an inability so far of the state to take practical action to fix the” situation, Hoxha points out.

Moreover, he adds that the country has so far had no priority of direct investment in the health system.

The fact that the government gives taxpayers' money in Turkey, Macedonia and various countries for treatment shows that so far the priority has been that through financial support solves the problem, not through direct investment in the health system. I think that as FOL our recommendations are always that these funds be used to increase health system capacities for treatment to be done here”, he says.

Hoxha, who is part of the FOL Movement, stresses that not all citizens have access to treatment abroad, considering that there are additional costs.

Otherwise, at the beginning of the year, an explosion in Ferizaj has left more than 40 people injured, 14 of whom have suffered more serious injuries. The explosion of gas canisters in a city restaurant raised concern over their widespread use in the country. The founding prosecutor at Ferizaj had launched an investigation. The same have not announced what has happened to the case, despite the interest of editorialism.
