The Council of Kosovo's Written Media and the Association of Kosovo Journalists have reacted to the proposal that online media content be regulated by the Independent Commission for Meia.
“KMK, as a self-regulated mechanism representing the written and online media and AGK, as an organisation representing journalists, oppose any effort and any initiative, by any means, for including online media content as part of the regulatory mechanism by state institutions.
KMSK is the only mechanism in Kosovo dealing with written and online media ethics (gazies, online media, magazines, news agencies) and constantly decides on citizens' complaints and institutions about ethical violations by written media and online. So KMK and AGK strongly oppose every effort and initiative to introduce written and online media ethics as part of the KPM law. Such initiatives are in open opposition to international journalism rules and the spirit of journalism installed in Kosovo at a time of” said in the response of KMK and AGK.

and the Association of Kosovo Journalists (AGK) have acknowledged with concern reports that the Kosovo Commission for Local Governance, Regional Development and Media has also mentioned the possibility of regulating online media content on the part of the Independent Commission for Media (KPM).
KMK, as a self-regulated mechanism representing the written and online media and AGK, as an organisation representing journalists, oppose any effort and any initiative, by any means, for including online media content as part of the regulatory mechanism by state institutions.
Such initiatives are in open opposition to international rules of journalism and the spirit of journalism installed in Kosovo at one time.
Each of the media written (online or printed) must provide responsibility for their actions before state bodies, based on relevant laws, but initially their ethics assessment can't be done better than media, or field professionals.
KMKK through the control and assessment mechanism of written media ethics is also recognised by the Assembly itself of Kosovo, through the Law on Exploitation and Defray, and the decisions KMKK makes for the parties and for the media are respected and highly regarded by local courts in cases when they decide on slander and insult.
Initiatives for control and assessment of ethics for written and online media by a state organisation are harmful and do not help media and journalists.
