The executive actions included efforts to limit the so-called <x0 voyeur” that can be built using parts and online instructions, but are limited to the action field and do not contain the steps Biden has promised to put pressure on to take Congress.
He also announced that he is naming gun control lawyer David Chipman to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms and Explosives, which has no permanent director in the country since 2015.
Administration officials have stressed that reports represent only the first steps towards addressing gun violence by later actions, such as the ban on offensive weapons or rules requiring universal controls. Beden, who is in the midst of advancing a massive infrastructure plan, has expressed uncertainty about the likelihood of adopting new weapons laws.
