The Kosovo Police Inspectorate has since January admitted 495 complaints of various violations by police officials.
Of these complaints, the Inspectorate has requested the suspension of 46 police officials and has arrested 24, has confirmed in an interview for Online Economy, chief Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK), Consumption Hodaj.
All these complaints by police are coming as a result of raising citizens' awareness, Hodaj says.
He even guarantees that all complaints are being handled with high priority and commitment.
A total of 495 complaints that are actually higher than previous years have been filed since January. As a result of these complaints, we have conducted criminal investigations, normally some who have been thought to have disciplinary violations have been returned to the police for treatment, of them criminal investigations we have so far arrested 24 police officials and requested suspension of 46 police officials in various cases”.
The police are currently a major law enforcement organisation and are in touch with citizens, of course, with dissatisfaction with police behavior and for involvement in various activities and disciplinary and criminal violations, there is a awareness of citizens to present all those concerns, and it's a commitment of ours to treat and investigate any illegal action of the police”.
According to him, co-operation with other institutions has enabled their work to be easier, EO reports.
Hodaj added that with the police management, they are making sure that this institution is as professional as it is and that it is cleared of incriminating elements.
We are able to have close and correct co-operation with all law enforcement institutions, starting with the Prosecutor's Office, the police, because many cases are jointly investigated”.
“ ... we have good co-operation with the police management in some form we have a goal of ensuring that the police are more professional and the law is implemented and cleared of incriminating elements that can be within its ranks and that we have achieved good co-operation and that there have not been a lack of common success in certain cases”.
