Israel retaliates immediately after attack near nuclear reactor

This country's army said that in response to the attack, it attacked several missile batteries in Syria, including the one who threw the missile that hit Israeli territory, Reuters writes, the Express newspaper broadcast.

On the other hand, Syria's state news agency said the air defence system has prevented the Israeli attack, which had limits in the outskirts of Damascus. “The air system prevented the missiles and brought down most of them”, this agency said. However, four wounded soldiers were reported.

A Syrian army deserter said Israeli attacks targeted areas near the town of Damair, about 40 km northeast of Damascus, where there are the presence of Iranian-backed militant groups. This area has been constantly hit by Israel in the past.

An Israeli Army spokesman said the Syrian missile had been thrown toward an Israeli plane during an earlier attack, but crossed the line and reached the nuclear reactor area in the town of Dimona.

Israeli media have been reporting in recent weeks that air defence systems around the Dimona reactor and at the port of the Red Sea, Eilat, are being reinforced due to a possible long-range missile attack or fearing forces backed by Iran, possibly with an attack launched as far away from Yemen.
