This incident activated warning sirens in an area near the Dimona secret nuclear reactor.
The news was made known by the Israeli army.
So far, no injuries or material damage are reported.
The Israeli Army announced that it responded to the attack with a series of rockets launched in Syria, including the country from which the rocket was launched that hit southern Israel.
The state news agency in Syria reported that the country's air defence managed to target and bring down most Israeli missiles, which, as told, targeted areas on the outskirts of Damascus, reports the Washington Post records the Kosovo Clan.
Tensions between Israel and Iran are high over Tehran's nuclear programme and a recent increase in sabotaged attacks, for some of which they have blamed each other.
