The International Monetary Fund predicts China's economy will grow by 8.4 percent in 2021, according to the latest update of the World Economic Perspective “report, published at the start of the IMF and World Bank spring meetings on Tuesday.
That figure is 0.3 percentage point more than the IMF forecast in January.
It would mark the highest level of growth in the Chinese economy since 2011, because according to the IMF, the effective “control measures, a powerful response to public investment, and the liquidity support of the central bank have facilitated a strong upgrade”.

China grew at 2.3 percent GDP in 2020, becoming the only major economy in the world that grew last year.
“Mydis with new markets and emerging economies, China had already returned to GDP level before COVID-19 in 2020, while many other economies are expected to achieve this only in 2023”, the IMF said, stressing that its forecast for China is much higher than for other key economies, including the United States, Germany and France, even lower than the forecast for India.

The second largest economy in the world has targeted a GDP growth of over 6 percent for 2021, as its recovery continues to accelerate.
