Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has responded to criticisms of civil society that are opposing the concept and draft law on confiscating illegal property.
Through a Facebook status, Haxhiu has invited civil society for participation in working groups within the Ministry of Justice, while adding that “money and misused wealth must be confiscated”.
This is her status:
Among the first pledges we made before the elections has been the maximum commitment against organised crime and corruption. For this and other vows, we have received great civic support so we will also work hard to live up to our vows.
Some of the civil society representatives who are opposing the concept and the draft law on confiscating illegal property are invited for participation in working groups within the Ministry of Justice.
We will cooperate with everyone who has good intentions.
Wasted money and wealth must be confiscated. It is for citizens, not individuals who thought they would never be followed for corrupt actions!
