RTK journalist Eagle Osmanaj has reacted to Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu after the latter has named news news release published yesterday in RTK, titled “Minister Hadziu Shkrbahen Prosecutor”. Osmani has said that she has her sources for that news and that “the source of news” was not [...]

Osmani has said that she has her own sources for that news and that “the source of news” has not been willing to go public.

Not long-term, we as journalists have our resources which sometimes even are unwilling to publicize violations and irregularities in institutions because of fears that they might be punished”, the RTK journalist, author of the article, wrote among other things.

This is Osman's complete writing:

Explaining After Justice Minister's Reaction

Your Honor, Minister. Haxhiu,

As a multi-year-old journalist in the broadcast media, I have tried to take full responsibility and professionalism. Without delay, we as journalists have our resources which sometimes even are unwilling to go public with violations and irregularities in institutions because of the fear they might be punished. Even in this case, in the article that I published the source of information he wasn't willing to go public with, but he gave me information in confidence. And of course you know that when journalists get the information they have a duty to publish whether that information is for the greater good. You have the space to give your position on the issue I raised, and I invite you to do so so that you can clarify the situation if there is anything more to explain. But I give you an advice as a journalist that you don't jump into attacks on media and journalists even if there's been a sudden lack of information, because in the end you're a minister and you have conscience and of course you're going to produce a news story for the media. Once again I invite you to clarify the situation published in my article, and we will publish and broadcast.
