Karaivaz, who worked for the private Star station and also directed the news blog “bloko.gr”, was shot several times Friday while leaving his car near his home in Athens after returning from work, as the witnesses have said.
Police said 52-year-old journalist was shot by two men with many bullets who went there on a motorcycle. At least 12 bullet shells gathered from the scene, a police official said.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis called Police Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis at a meeting Saturday to discuss the case, the prime minister's office said, writes Al Jazeera.
The murder was condemned by the European Commissioner and European Council of Human Rights Commissioner.
