Five MEPs voted against, but 660 voted for and 32 others abstained.
After the results were announced, Boris Johnson issued a statement defining the vote as the end of a tormenting process of Brexit, which had cost him the loss of the prime minister's post to two predecessors, writes The Guardian, translates Periscopi.
Before the vote, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen assured MPs that the 1449-page agreement provided guarantees that both sides would respect the obligation.
The United Kingdom government has only been accused this year of violating its commitments to Northern Ireland and fishing, both of which have been denied by them.
Von der Leyen also implied that relations between the EU and Britain were at a crossroads, with the risk that finding the agreement would reverse the situation.
Charles Michel welcomed this vote.
